Koji 10, コジ10, S.2, Ep.16 (S.2, Ep. 5) Drinking at Izakaya Pub
Let’s have the best 10 PM ever.
K: How about we get rid of pre-recorded shows?
Let’s see how we change after drinking.
K: Alcohol doesn’t affect me. I don’t get drunk. My dad used to have a glass so that’s about it then it’s 35 years old and has changed a bit, but I don’t drink because I have to get out and work the next day. We have champagne and wine. If I’m with an old buddy, it would be a beer.
For this episode we are in Akasaka Chuugoku Chabo 8, a Chinese food Cafe.
K: Did you know that if your’re riding a bike at 60kms per hour your visual perception changes?
What you can see becomes limited.
Maybe don’t wanna see anything.
Let’s try to get thru lotsa emails.
You can email the show at: **koji10@tbs.co.jp** If we use your email, we will send a Koji10 sticker.
🎵 Godiego’s Gandara
K: I like this song as it’s about an unseen Utopia. People want to go somewhere else, but that utopia doesn’t exist. Darn! We must make our own desires come true. I can sing this song karaoke.
I have it on CD.
Even in company, the people who are making their own destiny. They always say the company is bad. But really it’s what they make up while they are there.
K: In the radio, announcer industry is there a rule about being allowed to drink or not
A: No, there is no rule about that with Kojima’s work, wine is culture.
K: Right now I’m still at 95%. I’m at a point where there are lots of bugs.
We have less than a month remaining.
Questions:
1) What’s on your mind?
K: in junior high on Saturdays and Sundays, I used to bicycle soccer. One day I was in a rush and buddy and I swapped bicycles. I was racing to soccer practice and I got hit by a car. My sweater and pocket were ripped apart. School mates were saying are you gonna die? Fortunately I was in the sports class so I didn’t die. Something happened to my wrist and I was in the hospital for three weeks.
2) I was listening to your podcast and I think you’re a genius.
K: What ?!? Ha ha …
3) From England: Cassie Lewis: Do you make comics?
K: MGS made comics. People want Manga. I talked with Ito Junji. He put half thru with Random House, where they throw the plot, and make a story. But he is busy now. So it only got that far.
4) What’s are your thoughts about needing to move offices in your 30’s ?
K: With the movie Industry, lots of people take a break in their 30s. However, I think that what you have collected until now and your knowledge isn’t wasted. You have a chance to continue and you can use your past. However, if you’re married in your 30s, things get difficult. You’re not young, but you’re not a manager, and management can’t really get angry at you. In your 40s you’re smarter and have added onto your career and become a manager. In your 50s you get other life problems, such as a family members passing away, etc. In your 20s, you’re barely getting started and you have your student days behind you.
A: But when you get to your 30s, you start to think is this all there is? Have I made some mistake in my life? How do you deal with choices A or B?
K: I decide on my instincts. We have to lead with our own desires or else we will become unsatisfied.
A: How have you levelled up as you aged?
K: I feel like I’m always 18 years old. Until Coronavirus. In Japan we use Eras. I remember thinking that people who were born three Eras ago, with awe. Now here I am, having been born 3 eras ago. I want to return to my young days when I could jump and play. But our muscles just aren’t the same as they used to be.

5) Have you made any mistakes at work or what kind of mistakes have you made?
K: Not mistakes. They’re having situations where the senior executives tell juniors to do this or that, and make changes. For example, in a visual boob might be showing or … bleep … And then we would have to make changes. For example, I was working on a game called cyberpunk adventure. The executives didn’t understand the meaning of cyberpunk, even after explaining it to them. Also, I don’t get drunk so I don’t make drunken mistakes.
(A: Announcer is on their 3rd drink.)

6) Since you should be tipsy by now, **is there anything you can let slip about DS2 ?**
The sales date is June, and not September, why is that?
K: It’s up to the companies, timing and monthly schedule Of which titles come out when. They decide way ahead of time. In America, September, October and November, near Thanksgiving day is a prime time. There’s a shift of promotion Schedules and the best selling time. July and August is not good for sales as it’s a summer vacation. How is The situation in your wallet for May and June? I am OK with June. Promotion costs money. In November, all the billboards are taken up already.
K: With game stores, the product needs to be pre-purchased. So what happens if there’s a delay? Then the shop has the responsibility yet they cannot display the product. Therefore digital sales are easier. In the overseas market, there is often no last stage. They just go straight to sales. Sometimes there is no ending. It all depends on the schedule. Sometimes overseas also has a holdup.
This year, there are a lot of Games being produced. GTA is in November. Another game start sales in May That needs extra equipment so they can’t sell it ahead of time. Me, I’m good with June. However, personally, my best season For product sales would be to start in September.

I am completing an Open world game. As I said, I’m not a drinker, but am fixing bugs.
For example: A drinking glass might look like it’s floating. Visual checks are necessary.
There might be hundreds or even thousands of bugs. There are four types of bugs, A, B, C & D.
Example: A smoke bomb. When the file closes, it must not be touched or reopened or else it will cause another bug to form.
🎵 Tamaki Koji’s song, Melody
It’s a song about being happy with nothing.
I would love to be able to meet Tamaki Koji, but I’m not sure we would have anything to talk about.
With my staff, when we have cake, someone sings a song that is similar to Tamaki Koji. But I must say in karaoke, if you’re not good at it, then don’t sing it. This type of person should sing second position in karaoke.

🎵 Inoue Yousui’s song Shonen Jidai

K: This type of Koji10 show is nice. But I’m afraid the listeners will wonder what’s going on.
In the entertainment industry, it’s common to get drunk, but I don’t get drunk on alcohol. I get drunk on movies and entertainment. I’m an entertainment drunk.
A: Next time, what would you like to eat or drink? How about a pizza delivery? Or a beer garden?
K: I like department store beer gardens.
K: In Tachikawa, On the weekends, I go and get a salad. The lady wears a mask, but for the past 10 years, I’ve never seen her face.
End.
